Ectoplasmic Containment Unit (ECU): Our containment unit resides on the premises of Doom Patrol HQ within its basement area. The facility is designed in the same fashion as other ECUs operated and secured by various Ghostbusting teams throughout the United States. While functioning in a similar manner to other ECUs, ours is also fitted with security functions (such as password encryption and DNA imprint) to prevent the possibility of an unauthorized breech in the system. Only members of GBDP are given clearance to activate the Unit. GBDP has always adhered to traditional methods of paranormal investigation and elimination. Though, we do not limit ourselves to just that. Each member of Ghostbusters: Doom Patrol has come onto the team with distinct backgrounds. Bringing what they knew and what they have to the table, they produced devices and conceived ideas for on-field busting to append to the traditional means of Ghostbusting GBDP Style of Equipment
Created for the purpose of lesser tension on the back of its user. Traditional proton packs weigh at least 60lbs. These packs are 20lbs lighter and are no heavier than a standard lawn leaf-blower. They function at the same power and ability as a Mark IV pack, fitted with a stainless steal shell and lead-lined to hold and contain the energy within its power core. Spherical Ghost Trap (a.k.a. - Sphere Trap): Functions for the purpose of temporarily trapping and holding a ghost until it is safely transported and deposited into the Ectoplasmic Containment Unit. The design of the Spherical Ghost Trap is a deviation from a typical box trap, though the ability and inner workings of this device act similar in the sense of the open/shut mannerisms of its predecessor. To activate a standard Ghost Trap, the user presses down once on the pedal connected to the main box. The first press opens the double-striped doors on the surface, unleashing a pyramid of intense white light underneath the spectral entity. The particles between the physical makeup of the ghost are automatically attached to the particles released by the light of the ghost trap (ensnarement). Upon the second press of the pedal, the entity is pulled into the trap and the doors close shut once it's fixed within the portable unit. A Sphere Trap works in similar fashion, but a chord connected to a main base does not hinder it. It functions in two ways: automatic or manual remote. The user will throw or roll the trap at or within the proximity of the spectral entity. Next, set the sphere for automatic ensnarement or use the manual function to press a button in the form of a lapel button on the attire of the user. When the trap opens, it will activate in similar manner to a traditional box trap, hence, detect the entity...hold it...and consume it. The top opening of the Sphere Trap will pull back, releasing the same pyramid of energy locking onto and capturing the ghost. The difference between the old trap and the new trap is that all it takes is one press of the button for the sequence of events to unfold. The automatic setting is time-released. The Sphere Trap also has a homing sense that detects its ectoplasmic target that will automatically correct the direction of the beam. Wi-Fi Communicators: These were created for the sole purpose that Robert Statler is deaf/hard-of-hearing and cannot communicate well on a walkie-talkie. They function in a similar manner to a T-Mobile or SK3 Pager, with the only addition being that it has another function...a miniature video screen that will allow the transfer of close captions and real-timed voice communication. This device is portable and worn like a wristwatch. It is set for voiced-close caption mode for real-time communication. Peacekeeper Glove: Owned and operated by Dr. Andrew Williams. Before he was a Ghostbuster, he was a monster hunter. This device time and time again has saved his life. The glove expels darts of varying degrees (i.e. - poison, UV flares, explosives, silver laced darts, etc) and is used against non-vaporous entities. It is a valuable device when in combat against beasts of every form, especially nosferatu, zombies, and lyncan. Proton Staff: Used and operated by Dr. Salina Duran and created by Robert Statler. The staff has the ability to detract and retract, with an extension range of 1ft. to 5 1/2ft. When all else fails, if Dr. Duran is without a trap, proton pack, or weapon of any kind, she will resort to using this device. The end tips of the staff are double laced with damage-resistant proton shafts. When activated, instead of ensnaring or trapping a spectral entity, it does the opposite, repelling it. The staff is constructed of a thick lead alloy, which allows for containment of the protonic energy field within the staff. Against any non-spectral entity, it can also be used as a regular means for self-defense. Ecto Home Detection Unit (EHD): Created by Robert Statler, this device detects levels of ectoplasmic residue or non-human DNA. In short, it functions much the same way as a PKE Meter. Only, the device is operative all the time. GBDP gives these to their customers as a free service, warning them of any rise in Paranormal Kinetic Energy. It is simple to install in all domestic and business environments. If the device flashes green, the environment is safe. If the device flashes red, it is best to evacuate the area and call the Ghostbusters. Proton Pistol: Patented by Dr. Raymond Stantz and first used by The Canadian Ghostbusters for standard proton packs, this cordless compact version fires small concentrated blasts of proton energy that stuns and temporarily paralyzes its target. Its function is not for use against large entities. It is more or less a tool for semi-close range fire against beings or ghosts of lesser degree (ex. - against no bigger than a Class 4 entity). |
