Rob Smith
Artist/ Writer
Co-Founder
Ghostbusters: Doom Patrol

A long-time member of the Ghostbusters Fan Community and co-founding member of Ghostbusters: Doom Patrol, Rob Smith is a Graduate of Gallaudet University with a B.A. in Graphic Design and is a recognized Digital Colorist in the Comic Book industry who's work has been globally published in the critically acclaimed mini-series "Still Playing With Toys Presents" under the label of Still Playing With Toys, Inc, a progressive comic book company based in North Hollywood, California.

Rob was born in 1982 and is a life-long resident of Southern New Jersey; he is also Deaf and an advocate of positive self-expression. Growing up in a predominantly African-American small-town suburban community shaped the course of his life. He comes from a large charismatic family, but was the only child of a single mother. For much of his youth, Rob exhibited an active imagination. He recalls his earliest memories attempting to ride the family dog around his grandparent's backyard (much to the German Shepherd's disapproval) and maintained a fascination for constructing complex structures derived from Legos. Like any child of the 1980's, many of his days were spent sitting in front of the television set observing various realities of fantasy, drama, comedy, and grand scale heroics. It was this endeavor that fostered his dreams of a real world that could be much more than it seemed. Movies were also a major part of his life, the most influential being "Superman", "Back to the Future", and "Ghostbusters". "Back to the Future" opened his eyes to the truth that there is no limit to what faith and science can achieve and Superman was the first hero that he'd ever seen and became a symbol that no matter what the circumstances are of who or where one comes from, anyone can make a difference in another person's life. This maxim of valor became a continuous theme in his life, but Ghostbusters went on to become something entirely different under the guise of his first brush with fear.

The supernatural horror-comedy created by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis about four everymen that just happened to be heroes of the hereafter was initially never apparent to him. In the eyes of a child, to Rob, all it meant was seeing things that go bump in the night obliterated with heavy artillery. In turn, the first 'ghost' he'd ever seen was the deceased librarian in one of the earlier scenes of the movie. When she [the librarian] morphed from a feeble old woman into a roaring demon, it scared the wits out of the Ghostbusters and compelled them to run for their lives in their first encounter with an apparition. When Dr.'s Venkman, Stantz, and Spengler put sole to the floor and fled out of the New York Public Library, young Rob followed their initiative and ran the opposite direction out of the movie theater and into the parking lot! It would be nearly 9 years later until Rob chose to confront his fears and re-watch the movie in its entirety. The second time around was much different where instead of being fearful of the undead, he came to understand the movie's underlying message…'don't be afraid of the worst, conquer your fears and make the worst afraid of you'.

From then on and into adulthood, Rob never let go of his dreams and the lessons he learned from the most unlikely of sources. Whether it's battling critical opposition or eschewing overwhelming odds, he refuses to allow fear to overcome his desire for success and evolution. Rob's credits in the Ghostbusters Fan Community go back as far as 2003. In the internet fandom, he is widely known by different names: Mr. No-Ghost, M.N.G., and The Robisher, but many endearingly prefer to call him 'Rob'. As a member of Ghostbusters: Doom Patrol, Rob strives and continues to be a prolific force and a motivator to himself and his longstanding diverse family of teammates.
